Some skiers might be tempted to try a knee brace as a less expensive alternative to the Ski Mojo. According to Chemmy Alcott, this isn’t such a great idea:
“I’m known for all the injuries I had as a downhill ski racer and I spent a lot of my career wearing a knee brace. But when I retired, I found the Ski Mojo.”
“A lot of people try and compare the two, but for me there is no comparison.”
A knee brace leads to “pain in other areas”
Chemmy knows her body and can tell that when she wears a knee brace, all it does is “trigger a memory and a pain to my brain in that side of my body”. Once that happens she finds herself compensating and that only leads to “pain in other areas”.
“When I wear the Ski Mojo, because I wear it on both legs, I feel support all through my skeleton and I don’t compensate anywhere.”
“In fact, it helps my performance because at the end of the turn it pushes my hip and and I can really drive that tip into the turn.”
