Chemmy Alcott is passionate about keeping women on the slopes, whatever their age.
“There are stats saying that just 25% of core skiers are women. And even more worrying, more mature women give up skiing at double the rate of men.”
Women less likely to ski as they age
Research by the NSAA in the USA (National Ski Areas Association) has indicated that at age 40, women make up around half of skiers and snowboarders, but by age 47 that has fallen to 40%.
By the age of 67, less than one-third of skiers and snowboarders are women.
Lack of confidence a factor
According to Chemmy, “Fear of injury and not being fit enough are cited as the most common reasons” for stopping skiing.
Some older women have injuries that hold them back, while for others it’s a confidence issue.
Ski Mojo can extend your skiing life
Chemmy is appealing to people to boost awareness of the Ski Mojo:
“Help me spread the love and give these women hope that the Ski Mojo can prolong their skiing opportunities for longer, by lessening the forces that the lower body has to withstand and aid performance to help us all ski better for longer.”
“The Ski Mojo was everything I hoped it would be, and more!”
